From JR Kyoto station

  • 15 mins by taxi
  • Take a city bus going North-East via Sanjo Keihan Station. Get off at the station and walk north for 3 min.

From the stations of private railway lines

  • If you use the Keihan-line, get off at Sanjo Keihan Station and walk north for 3 min.
  • If you use the Hankyu Kyoto line, get off at Kawaramachi Station (final stop) and walk for 11 minutes.

By Car

  • 15 mins in the Sanjo direction using the Meishin Expressway Kyoto East I.C.
  • 名20 mins in the Kyoto City direction (National Highway No. 1) using the Meishin Expressway Kyoto South I.C.

Using the Kyoto City Subway

  • Take the Subway Karasuma Line at Kyoto station. At Oike Station, change to the Subway Tozai Line.
    Get off at the Sanjo Keihan station and walk north for 3 min.北へ徒歩3分

Kiyomizu-dera

The temple is famous for the Terrace of Kiyomizu.
The grand view of the city opening from the terrace will take your breath away.

Open 6:00 - 18:00.

Sanzen-in

Sanzen-in lies in the countryside along Ohara no Sato and the Takano River.
The exquisite moss adorning its tranquil garden will calm your heart.

Open 8:30 - 17:00 pm (until 16:00 between December - February).

Arashiyama

There are many temples and shrines with wonderful gardens in the Arashiyama and Sagano area, including Tenryu-ji and Daikaku-ji.

Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion)

Silver Pavilion is the common name for the Jisho-ji temple.
The temple garden is divided into two classic garden designs, the rock garden and the garden circling a pond, and as such is said to symbolize the Higashiyama culture.

Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion)

The Rokuon-ji temple is commonly known as the Golden Pavilion.
It was restorated in 1955 and continues to represent the elegant Kitayama culture.
